The Learning Center will open September 7, 2021.

About the Learning Center
The Learning Center provides one-on-one reading tutoring and homework help to 2nd grade-12th grade students throughout the community. The tutoring is provided as a public service from the city, as an ongoing part of the community’s commitment to enhance basic literacy skills of all our citizens.

The Learning Center reading tutors are community volunteers trained to assist students improve their reading skills. The Learning Center is frequently referred to by various state officials as a “model for community-based literacy programs in the state of Utah.”

The Learning Center will help students with homework in math, science, history, reading, social studies, art, and other areas. 

Students have access to computers, reference materials, calculators, supplies, and grade-level reading materials to accomplish homework, projects, and other school assignments.

Locating the Center
The easiest way to find the center is to take the elevator, adjacent to the front desk in the library, to the basement and turn left.

Learning Center Rules

To participate in the services offered by the Learning Center, parents and students must be respectful of staff and other students. 

No food or drinks are allowed.

 To Receive Reading Tutoring:

  • Students must be enrolled in 2nd grade - 12th grade
  • Students must be reading below grade level
  • Parents must register their student for a scheduled appointment
  • Students are required to show up on time to all scheduled appointments and to leave the Learning Center when their appointment is over. 

 To Receive Math/Homework Help:

  • Students must be enrolled in 2nd grade - 12th grade
  • No appointment necessary
  • Students must be working on assignments. If not working with a tutor, students will be required to leave

Free classes for adult English language learners will return soon.
