Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity that is open to all of us. There are a variety of opportunities throughout American Fork City, from serving on a Board or Commission to participating as a volunteer in the community.

General Service

Show-Up-For-Service Opens in new windowIn 2022, Utah's First Lady Abby Cox challenges Utahns to #ShowUp over 1,000,000 times to serve communities, organizations, and each other. 

Steps to Show Up for Service:

  1. See 1. Recognize others who show up for service.
  2. Serve 2. Find two ways you ca show up for service.
  3. Invite 3. Challenge three people to show up for service.

Meals on Wheels

Meals-on-Wheels (pdf) needs volunteer drivers 1 day a week, for 1 hour, in a limited delivery radius from American Fork Senior Center. Volunteers use their own vehicle to pick up the food at the Senior Center and deliver meals to the elderly, ill, frail, or disabled seniors in their homes. Tree Maintenance

The Parks and Recreation Committee has identified a service opportunity to help keep the trees in the parks looking nice by digging rings around the trees and placing mulch to keep the weeds and grass down. To learn more about this project, contact Jason Thomson, Parks Superintendent, at 801-763-3060.

Red Cross Smoke Detectors

The Red Cross is looking for those interested in a service opportunity, or for an Eagle Scout project. The Red Cross needs people to go door to door in American Fork offering free smoke detectors to qualified residents who are in need. This service can be done year-round and is coordinated by the Fire Department. Those interested can contact American Fork Fire & Rescue at 801-763-3045.

Senior Companion Program

Utah County Senior Services is looking for seniors (55+) who would like to serve other seniors in their community. Volunteers will receive a small stipend, reimbursement for mileage, and paid training once a month. Volunteers must be income eligible, be willing to serve 15+ hours per week and have the desire to help others. Red Cross Blood Donations

The Red Cross is in urgent need of blood donations. Every day, blood donors help patients of all ages: accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those battling cancer. Find a donation site by visiting redcrossbloog.org
